Facing The Future Without Fear

Facing The Future Without Fear

Shepherds’ Support Conference:

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” Hebrews 10:24

In 2013 Shepherd’s Support held a conference for pastors and spouses at the Kalnin Center. Over two hundred people attended for practical and motivational teaching.

In September 21-25, 2015, Steven and Connie Troxel returned with their associates for another week of dynamic and encouraging teaching. Three-Star Air Force General “Tex” Brown joined the Troxels to share his military experiences and surviving the 9/11 Pentagon attack.

Facing The Future Without Fear.

Steven and Connie Troxel pastored Wayside Chapel in San Antonio, Texas for thirty-four years. Wayside helped establish and grow the Barefoot Doctors Program by contributing many professional medical people and essential funds.

One of the pivotal events that led Steve to step aside as Senior Pastor at Wayside and begin Shepherds’ Support occurred while attending the twenty-fifth Barefoot Doctors celebration in Putao, Burma. After days of six-hour long services, Steve sat with some of the local pastors around the campfire. An 80-year old pastor explained that he walked 21 days to get there, but he did not want the event to end. He wanted more of the teaching and fellowship. Through that conversation, God led Steve and Connie to be pastors-at-large and to minister wherever God calls them.

Pastors and their wives all over the world need encouragement. They struggle with limited resources and increasing demands on them at great personal expense. As the Troxels have come alongside them to tell their own stories and to encourage them with practical, Biblical advice, they have been receptive and grateful for tools that will endure over time. Steve and Connie seek to assure their colleagues that burnout and moral failure can be avoided over decades of satisfying service to the Lord and His people.
