Earthquake Relief

On March 28, 2025 a 7.9 magnitude earthquake shook the center of Myanmar (Burma), specifically the Sagaing Region near Mandalay. The second largest quake in modern times caused extensive damage throughout Myanmar, Thailand, and neighboring countries. The effects of the earthquake resulted in over five thousand deaths in Burma.

The earthquake exacerbated an already dire humanitarian situation in Myanmar, where over six million people were in urgent need of assistance. The ongoing conflict and political instability have complicated recovery efforts. Many communities, especially in areas like Inle Lake, faced severe damage, with up to 90% of homes destroyed in some villages.

The FLC team in Burma mobilized quickly to help effected communities in Inle Lake and other areas of the country. The Garu and Changkhum families mobilized along with current and past Barefoot Dr students, bringing food, construction materials to reconstruct homes, and Christ’s love to people in desperate need.
